Burgerweeshuis is located at Bagijnenstraat 9 in Deventer. Because the building is in the city center,

it is easily accessible by foot or bike. It is about a 10-minute walk from Deventer Central Station. Click here for directions.

There are several parking garages in the area. You can park at the Centrumgarage Deventer or the Stadspoort Garage. Paid parking is also available in various spots around the Burgerweeshuis.

The ground floor concert hall and the café are both wheelchair accessible. The rooms on the first floor are not. You can email info@burgerweeshuis.nl to request a stool or chair for a concert.

Our concerts are open to all ages. Visitors under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Our club nights generally have a minimum age requirement of 18. You can check the program page for the specific age requirements for each concert and club night.

The Burgerweeshuis offices are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In addition, Burgerweeshuis is open during concerts and club nights. You can find these times in our calendar.

The café opens at 7:00 PM on concert nights. If there is no concert, the café is closed.

Burgerweeshuis provides lockers for your belongings. To use a locker, you will need a €2 coin, which can be obtained at the box office (card only). We recommend leaving bags at home. The lockers are 23 cm high, 30 cm wide, and 40 cm deep. Backpacks are not permitted in the venue.

Our website lists both door times and start times. You can scan your ticket and enter Burgerweeshuis from the door time onwards. The start time is when the concert or club night actually begins.

The start and end times communicated for concerts and club nights are indicative and subject to change; no rights can be derived from them.

Concerts at Burgerweeshuis are generally standing-room only, unless otherwise indicated on the event page for the specific concert. If you would like to request a chair or stool for a standing concert, please contact info@burgerweeshuis.nl. We will then check if it is possible to provide one.

General

·       Burgerweeshuis is a place for everyone, where everyone is welcome. We do our best to provide a safe and pleasant venue for all, including both visitors and staff.

·       Instructions from Burgerweeshuis staff or hired personnel must be followed at all times.

·       By entering the Burgerweeshuis premises, you acknowledge that you are aware of the house rules.

·       Visitors enter and remain in Burgerweeshuis at their own risk at all times.

·       Burgerweeshuis is not liable for the loss of personal belongings.

·       Bringing your own food or drinks is prohibited.

·       We recommend wearing ear protection. Burgerweeshuis operates at 100 dBA. This volume is harmful if ear protection is not worn.

Minimum age and identification

·       Burgerweeshuis only serves alcoholic beverages to visitors aged 18 and over.

·       If there is any doubt regarding your age, you must be able to provide proof of identity.

·       The minimum age for dance events is 18. The minimum age for concerts is 16, or younger if accompanied by an adult.

·       If you do not meet the minimum age requirement, we reserve the right to refuse you entry.

‍Nuisance, alcohol & drugs

·       Visitors who are visibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be refused entry.

·       Smoking is prohibited at all times inside the building and under the canopy.

·       The possession, use, or sale of drugs is strictly prohibited. If drugs are found, the items will be confiscated, the person(s) involved will be removed from the premises, and future access will be denied. If necessary, the police may be notified.

·       Access will be denied to anyone causing a nuisance to the surroundings in any form.

Weapons and dangerous objects

·       Carrying weapons or objects that could be used as a weapon is strictly prohibited.

· Weapons will be confiscated by security staff (host/doorman).

· If a weapon (or firearm) is found, we will notify the police at all times, and future access will be denied.

‍Visitor conduct at the door

· Guests of Burgerweeshuis must not act aggressively or disruptively at the entrance or inside the venue (in word or behavior).

· To protect your safety and that of others, you may be subject to a pat-down or security screening. If a visitor does not cooperate, access will be denied.

‍Destruction and Vandalism

· Visitors who behave noisily, cause damage, leave litter, or urinate in public when leaving the club will be denied future access.

· Guests who have caused problems in the (recent) past may be (permanently) denied access.

‍Harassing, intimidating behavior, or unwanted physical contact

· Any form of unwanted behavior will not be tolerated.

· Approaching another person must be done in a decent and friendly manner; unwanted physical contact is not permitted.

· Behavior experienced by other visitors as disruptive, threatening, intimidating, or unwanted will result in a warning, followed by removal if it continues. In such cases, future access may also be denied.

· Group behavior that has an intimidating effect will not be tolerated.

Right of refusal

· We reserve the right to refuse entry if the venue is at capacity or if high attendance is expected due to a special invitation policy.

· Burgerweeshuis reserves the right to refuse groups larger than 4 people.

· We reserve the right to refuse entry if tickets are invalid or were not purchased through Burgerweeshuis.

‍CCTV surveillance

· Burgerweeshuis uses CCTV during our events to ensure the safety of people and property. Camera footage is stored for a period determined by the company and will be made available to the police if necessary. By attending the event, individuals appearing in the recordings consent to this.

At Burgerweeshuis, we are cashless, so please pay by card at the bar and the box office.

Did you lose something during your visit to one of our concerts or club nights? info@burgerweeshuis.nl or call us on the next business day at 0570-619198 to check if it has been turned in to our lost and found.

We recommend using earplugs during concerts and club nights. You are welcome to bring your own, but if you forget them, no worries! They are available for €4.50 per pair from the vending machine in the lobby. Card payments only.

You may take photos and videos with your smartphone, provided you do not disturb other guests. Bringing recording equipment to the event venue is not permitted. Recording the event in any form (photography, audio, video, etc.) is prohibited. Selfie sticks and tripods are not allowed. Requests for recording can be submitted to marketing@burgerweeshuis.nl.

For privacy reasons, recording is prohibited during some club nights. In these cases, your camera lens will be covered with a sticker upon entry.

Thirteen pop music organizations in Gelderland and Overijssel, including venues, development institutions, and educational programs, are working together through Muziekhub Oost to strengthen the musical ecosystem in the East of the Netherlands. By pooling knowledge, networks, and resources, we support the creative and business development of artists at every stage of their careers.
