We are Burgerweeshuis, the premier stage for live music, club nights, and talent in Deventer and far beyond for 40 years.
As a driving force for pop and club culture, we provide a professional stage within the music industry. From this central role, we stimulate various initiatives, enter into collaborations, and support ambitious talent in their development and their search for their own sound and identity.
Burgerweeshuis is an open space that fosters self-expression, diversity, and growth. It is a home base for various (sub)cultures where you can meet artists, discover new talent, and make friends. Our dedicated team works with passion and joy in a music venue that is just a little bit different. We do this together with a group of 124 volunteers.
For 40 years, Burgerweeshuis has been located in the beautiful, historic, and characterful building on the Bagijnenstraat. With an intimate main hall and a cozy café, it is a place where music lovers feel right at home. We also host events at various locations throughout the beautiful city of Deventer.
Burgerweeshuis offers the city and the surrounding area a diverse music program. Over the years, legends such as Solomon Burke, Xzibit, Soundgarden, Jeff Mills, and Grandmaster Flash have graced our stage, alongside top Dutch acts like Doe Maar, DeWolff, De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig, and Goldband.
There is room for all genres, local and regional talent, and innovative projects. The artists who perform at Burgerweeshuis describe it best: “Burgerweeshuis is a home away from home”.
