Personal Trainer
In recent years, Personal Trainer has gained popularity both at home and abroad with their manic indie sound rooted in rock. The most adventurous band in the Netherlands released their third album, 'Human Assholes', at the beginning of September.
For frontman Willem Smit of Personal Trainer, music is the ultimate outlet for all his energy, creativity, and ideas. Over the past decade, the band has grown from the Amsterdam underground into a major, high-energy indie-rock act. After three years of non-stop touring, they discovered that no song is ever truly finished, and no show has to be the last.
For their new album Human Assholes, the band chose a new approach: using acoustic guitar as a starting point and focusing on playing together in the same room. You can feel that in everything Personal Trainer does: playful, hyperactive, unpredictable, and always in motion. From Lowlands and SXSW to Iceland Airwaves and their biggest headline show ever at Carré. One thing is certain: sitting still is not an option.
The national music press is full of praise for Human Assholes, calling the album a celebration of unbridled creativity and musical skill, and describing the sound as adventurous and ambitious.
