The Burger Beurs is an initiative by Burgerweeshuis designed to give promising artists from Overijssel a significant boost. Musical acts from various genres receive a grant and a full year of access to the resources, expertise, and network of Burgerweeshuis.

Burger Beurs Talents 2026!
Once again this year, Burgerweeshuis is taking three bands from Overijssel under its wing as part of the Burger Beurs talent development program. The program is intended for young talent from Overijssel across a wide range of genres. Together with the Burgerweeshuis talent developer, the selected artists work on long-term planning and concrete goals for the next step in their careers. Burgerweeshuis supports participants through coaching, a valuable network, and by providing access to facilities such as the studio and rehearsal rooms.

Burger Beurs Talents 2026
The 2026 selection consists of surf/garage-punk band Nomads Radio, talented hip-hop artist Simcha, and synth-pop band Pluk dan.
Nomads Radio
Nomads Radio is a three-piece whirlwind of surf and garage-punk, anchored by poppy hooks and lyrics that balance between personal anxieties and everyday absurdities. Their sound is reminiscent of the raw, melodic energy of Ty Segall and the indomitable drive of Osees, but with their own recognizable twist. The band is known for their energetic live shows and their ability to effortlessly combine rawness with accessibility.
With the Burger Beurs, they aim to take their next step: recording their second EP, in which they want to further sharpen and deepen their sound. In addition, they are focusing on strengthening the act's branding and increasing their reach by playing more shows. In doing so, they are purposefully building a stronger profile within the Dutch alternative music scene.
Simcha is a young, talented hip-hop artist from Zutphen who is gaining increasing attention with his sharp pen, characteristic flow, and honest lyrics. He is building strong momentum, with support from the likes of NELCON and Pjotr, and was recently featured on Operator Radio, Open Source Radio, and Nachtparlement NYE.
Over the past year, he released several singles that helped him make a name for himself locally and build a loyal following. What started at Deventer Talenthouse, with small gigs and studio sessions in the region, is now growing into a serious career.
In November 2025, he released his first EP, MC SIM, a versatile project with influences from grime, trap, afro, and pop—a significant milestone that brings his development as an artist together. With the Burger Beurs, he wants to work on a grime mixtape and a live show featuring collaborations both within and outside the grime scene.
Combining experimental Dutch-language synth-pop and spoken word, Pluk dan explores the intersection of language and music. She does not limit herself to a single genre or art form, but turns every show into an interdisciplinary experiment guided by her own motto: ‘Only one day is your last, let that one rot and pick the rest’.
With the help of the Burger Beurs, Pluk dan will head into the studio this coming year to record their first two EPs. Through their first release, the band wants to better introduce listeners to their unique universe, both on record and on stage. They plan to professionalize their live show and work on integrating other art forms into their set.
Last year, the Burger Beurs was awarded to garage-punk band Badminton, Dutch-language poetic alt-rock band Jongeman, and Deventer psychedelic indie-rock band The Cradles. The Burger Beurs is an initiative of the Burgerweeshuis music venue and is made possible in part by the Province of Overijssel.
