This year's participants
The 2026 selection consists of surf/garage punk band Nomads Radio, talented hip-hop artist Simcha and synthpop band Pluk dan.
Nomads Radio
Nomads Radio is a three-piece whirlwind of surf and garage punk, anchored in poppy hooks and lyrics that balance between personal fears and everyday absurdities. Their sound is reminiscent of Ty Segall's rugged, melodic energy and Osees' indomitable drive, but with its own, recognisable twist. The band is known for their energetic live shows and their ability to effortlessly combine rawness and accessibility.
With the Burger Beurs, they want to take their next step: recording their second EP, in which they want to further refine and deepen their sound. In addition, they focus on strengthening the act's branding and expanding their reach by playing more shows. In this way, they are purposefully building a stronger profile within the Dutch alternative music scene.
Simcha is a young, talented hip-hop artist from Deventer/Zutphen who knows how to attract more and more attention with his sharp pen, characteristic flow and honest lyrics. He is building strong momentum, with support from NELCON and Pjotr, among others, and has recently been heard and seen at Operator Radio, Open Source Radio and NYE Nacht Parlement.
In the past year, he released several singles that made a name for himself locally and built up a loyal following. What started at Deventer Talenthouse, small gigs and studio sessions in the region, is now growing into a serious career.
In November 2025, he released his first EP MC SIM, a multi-faceted project with influences from grime, trap, afro and pop, an important moment in which his development as an artist comes together. With the Burger Beurs, he wants to work on a grime mixtape and live show with collaborations inside and outside the grime scene.
In a combination of experimental Dutch-language synthpop and spoken word, Pluk dan explores the intersection of language and music. They are not limited to one genre or art form, but turns each show into an interdisciplinary experiment in which she is guided by her own motto: “Only one day is your last, let it rot and reap the rest”.
With the help of the Burger Beurs, Pluk dan will then go into the studio next year for their first two EPs. On the basis of their first release, the band wants to introduce listeners to their own universe, both on record and on stage. They will professionalize their live show and work to integrate other art forms into their set.
Last year, garage punk band Badminton, the Dutch-language poetic alto rock band Jongman and Deventer psychedelic indie rock band The Cradles received the Burger Beurs. The Burger Beurs is an initiative of the Burgerweeshuis music venue and is made possible in part by the Province of Overijssel.
