Deventer Talenthouse consists of four different TalentRoutes:

·  Songwriters & Musicians (March 2027, registration open)

· Rappers (registration closed)

· Jamming & Playing Together with Colored Monkeys (registration open)

·  Producers  (January 2027, registration open)

· DJ (registration closed)

The workshops take place at Burgerweeshuis and are led by musicians, producers, and artists who once started out just like you. They share all their experiences as artists and help you find your way in the Deventer music scene.

In these workshops, you’ll learn things like how to write a song, how to present yourself on stage, or what makes for a good song structure or a solid beat.

‍

Under professional guidance, you will receive support, tips, and feedback so that you can develop in a fun and safe environment, and above all, learn from others.

‍

The workshop series ends with an awesome presentation on stage in the Burgerweeshuis concert hall, where friends, family, and anyone else are more than welcome to come and see your live performance!

Talenthouse Jamming

‍

In six free workshops, led by Richard Wevers of MonkeyJam with special guest coaches, you will learn how to jam and play together.

‍

What is your role as an instrumentalist or vocalist, and how do you ensure that you can create music that feels like a pop song using only improvisation?

We use the MonkeyJam methodology, in which we cover the roles of different instruments, musical characteristics, and our “five principles”:

‍

-listening

-giving space

-music must move

-take initiative

-serve the music

‍

These principles form the framework for the workshop series, where the focus is primarily on doing. Theory and tips are immediately put to the test in practice so that you learn to use them as tools in a jam setting.

‍

Talenthouse MonkeyJam is led by Richard Wevers, with support from two interns from the MBO artist program. In addition, special guests will be invited to two workshops for extra inspiration.

‍

All different instruments will receive plenty of attention, while the group works toward a spectacular show on the main stage of Burgerweeshuis during the Talent Night on December 19th.

Who is it for?

Deventer Talenthouse is for young people aged 13 to 20 from Deventer and the surrounding area who are interested in music. It doesn't matter if you are just starting out or have been playing for a while. At Deventer Talenthouse, you learn from each other!

When?

The workshops take place on Tuesday evenings at Burgerweeshuis. By signing up, you are expected to attend all sessions. Please mark them in your calendar!
