Meral Polat nominated for the 3voor12 Award

Every year, the editors of 3voor12 announce the nominees for the award: Best Album of the Year from Dutch soil.
This year, Meral Polat is in the list of nominees with her album Meydan.
Below is 3voor12's explanation of the nomination:
“What a record Meral Polat, Dutch singer of Alevi Kurdish origin, made. Desert blues, Anatolian rock, Ethiopian jazz, Kurdish music, afrobeat, and also sizzling dark psychedelia: the type of music you want to hear live, and that feeling, she and producer Chris Doyle know how to capture in this album. The overarching theme: Jin, Jiyan, Azadî, or woman, life, freedom, the rallying cry that originated in the Kurdish women's movement and became a slogan after Mahsa Amini's death. And that's how powerful this album sounds: she's making herself big, strong, refusing to be oppressed.”
Meral is up Friday, April 10 on display in the Citizen Orphanage.
