Farewell to Hoogtevrees
It is with heavy hearts that we must say goodbye to the Hoogtevrees music festival, held at the Worp during Deventer Op Stelten. Due to rising costs and a changing financial landscape, Events dEVENTer has had to make this difficult decision.
To safeguard the future of the theater festival, they have shifted the focus back to the core of Deventer Op Stelten: theater. The current format of a large-scale, free-to-attend theater festival, of which Hoogtevrees was a prominent part, is unfortunately no longer viable.
Hoogtevrees, a festival we developed and organized, has been a familiar and cherished part of Deventer Op Stelten for the past ten years. We are proud of what we have achieved together with artists, visitors, partners, and our volunteers!
Thijs van Lier: “We are incredibly sorry that, after more than ten years, the Hoogtevrees music festival is coming to an end as part of Deventer Op Stelten. Our ambition to grow Hoogtevrees further unfortunately proved impossible. We want to thank everyone who has supported, visited, and helped make the festival possible over the years.”
Despite this farewell, we remain committed to music, culture, and creativity in Deventer, and we are exploring the possibilities of developing an independent music festival in 2026.
