The King's Fest
Des Konings Fest, the longest-running free festival at the Burgerweeshuis, is set to be something truly special again this year.
Featuring a great mix of rock, blues, roots, indie, country, and plenty of good vibes in our historic courtyard. The schoolyard opposite the Burgerweeshuis will also be part of the festival, offering a lovely terrace for food and drinks, plus plenty of room for our youngest festival-goers to play.
New this year, also in the schoolyard, is the Burger flea market (from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM), where you can score some great finds from our attic. Expect unique decor pieces, glassware, cassette tapes, kitchenware, and much more.
The Seatsniffers
The Seatsniffers performed in our garden back on King's Day in 2010. They proved loud and clear that authentic country and rockabilly can absolutely come from Belgium. We are thrilled to welcome these energetic Belgians back. As our closing act, they are set to bring the house down with their power mix of rock 'n' roll, rhythm & blues, soul, and rockabilly.
Bob Wayne
A torchbearer for the likes of Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, he spends an average of three hundred days a year on the road. Whether he's playing small clubs, biker bars, or festivals, he doesn't care—as long as he's playing. Influenced by country, roots, bluegrass, rockabilly, punk rock, and hardcore, he sings raw lyrics about life as it really is. His show at Hoogtevrees 2023 was cancelled last minute due to the weather, so this is his make-good performance!
Tuff Guac
Tuff Guac is the solo outlet for Rafael Valles Hilario. Having gained plenty of stage experience in various garage-punk bands, he was ready for something new. With more pop, more melody, and more flavor, his debut album "Green and Handsome" was born—a reverb-drenched garage-pop record filled with catchy hooks. His follow-up, ‘Swanky Love,’ released a year ago, is packed with elastic soul tracks and stretchy rock 'n' roll. Tuff Guac shows are energetic, catchy, and incredibly danceable.
Baba Pen & The Bim Bam Band
Baba Pen is the new spiritual leader from the east. Expect psych-rock with traces of country, folk, and mysticism, all delivered in a ritualistic package.
Henk Johannes
Henk Johannes has enjoyed years of success with his band Money & The Man. Now, he has begun releasing his solo work. Drawing inspiration from various musical genres, he writes honest, clear lyrics that resonate with the listener. His music is a blend of singer-songwriter style with a touch of Americana and indie pop/rock, performed with his own acoustic guitar and backed by a full band.
