Sticks
Once again this June, the atmospheric courtyard of Poppodium Burgerweeshuis will serve as the backdrop for a versatile series of garden concerts that are sure to spark excitement.
Sticks broke through with the rap group Opgezwolle and has since become one of the biggest names in Dutch hip-hop.
His collaboration with rapper Rico and producer Delic marked the beginning of a career filled with diverse projects. From there, Sticks released one record after another.
He began working on solo albums while simultaneously starting the rap group Fakkelbrigade with his circle of friends from Zwolle. Collaborations with artists such as A.R.T, Rico, Typhoon, Kubus, Freez, Winne, Jiggy Djé, Hef, Lijpe, and Mula B followed.
In his endless quest for innovation, he released an autobiographical book that offers a unique look into his creative process. The most recent albums born from that process are 'STICKmatic' and 'Het Mooiste Komt Nu'. In early 2022, a documentary about Sticks' life was released, which
shares the same title as his latest album.
In 2023, he released the new album 'Alles Over Hoop'. With this album, he returned to performing live after a long hiatus. He sold out Paradiso Tolhuistuin in under 5 minutes and followed that show with a sold-out Dutch tour. He also performed at festivals including Down The Rabbit Hole, Into The Great Wide Open, and Lowlands.
Last year saw the release of 'Zonneschijn', an album about his late mother: "Death is never far away on this album; it lingers in the background, but the will to live is much more prominent. And what makes things live, makes things bloom? What provides the will to live? Sunshine." With this album, he performed his biggest solo concert to date at AFAS Live in February.
In the Burgertuin, the Zwolle-based rapper will perform everything a true fan wants to hear: the golden oldies and music from his latest album.
support NOAH
Beyond being a wordsmith, this talented artist is also a painter. In a short time, Noah has made a name for himself with his old-school vibes, mixed with a modern sound and sick lyrics. He signed with the label Noah’s Ark earlier this year and served as the support act for Sticks' show at AFAS.
